Let's get things straight from the very beginning: Uncle Vernon Dursley is still one of the most despicable characters in the Harry Potter universe. However, a really unexpected fan take might add some layers to this character — even if you never asked for those.
TikToker @adamisboredathome has come up with the hot take in one of his videos, saying that "nobody gives Vernon H Dursley the credit he deserves for being an absolute ride or die king." And if you think about it, he is lowkey right...
"Wife has a complex and traumatic relationship with magic ? He'll fist fight every wizard he meets ON SIGHT. She doesn't want her nephew getting mail? He'll [...] die before he lets a single letter enter that Christforsaken house. Truly a god tier husband," the TikToker noted.
And while it does not excuse a single abusive thing he and his wife have done to Harry, it looks like Uncle Vernon is, in fact, a pretty good husband, no matter how painful it is to admit.
"Vernon was willing to move into a shack in the ocean to, in his eyes, protect his family, from allowing their kid to become a magical rampage who would wreck their lives. Now, from a different point of view, that's almost respectable," Redditor PeopleAreBozos noted.
After all, it's worth remembering that the Dursley family never asked to be a part of the magical turmoil that Harry (or, to be fair, Professor Dumbledore) signed them up for.
