Heading into Season 4, fans of Amazon Prime Video's The Boys are starting to predict how the series will end. One of those theories is so satisfying, it's hard to imagine showrunner Eric Kripke coming up with a better one.

A fan suggested that the show ending with Homelander simply dying wouldn't be enough. In their perfect ending, Homelander would be left powerless and in protective custody, cursed to be living the rest of his life as a regular person – the type of person he's always seen as nothing.

This truly would be a fitting person for the cruel, sociopathic Homelander. Ever since he was made in a lab, he's been told he was basically a god. He relayed the same message to his son, who's blessed with the same powers as him. Homelander has used those god-like powers to get everything he's ever wanted out of life by terrorizing anyone who opposes him.

In Season 3, Soldier Boy – after experimentation by the Russians – was granted the ability to depower other heroes. He took the powers of both Kimiko and Maeve, allowing the latter to move on and start a new life. Jensen Ackles seems to be confirmed for an appearance in Season 4, meaning he'll likely have an important role going forward.

Some fans theorized that he would directly be responsible for Homelander's depowering, while some suggested that his having that power was simply a way for the writers to show that it is possible for Supes to have their power taken away.

Supporters of the theory went further, suggesting that Homelander wouldn't be able to live without the power he's known for his entire life. If they did take his powers, he would react by taking his own life.

Spinning off from that, one fan suggested a haunting end to the series.

A guard walks in on Homelander – depowered and locked in a white room like the one he grew up in – with his feet floating in the air. The audience believes he has regained his powers and will wreak havoc on those who put him in that cage. But the camera pans up to show him hanging from a noose.

Eric Kripke has previously said he plans on at least five seasons, but so far we're only guaranteed a fourth. Season 4 will premiere in 2023, so fans will have to wait and see how accurate their theories will have been.
