The WGA and SAG strikes don't help at all.

With the recent talk from Disney 's executive Bob Iger about selling off all of the studio's television assets, fans of Disney franchises have begun to fear delays and cancellations of upcoming shows and movies. And although no official announcements have been made to prove those rumors, the studio producers are in no hurry to debunk them either.

There is one particular show that's now in an extremely vulnerable position — the upcoming Star Wars series Lando. Yes, some fans even believe that the highly anticipated show won't ever be released.

Of course, the ongoing Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes have affected the series' production. If anything, the strikes are going to slow down the writing and filming for the show, pushing the release date to 2025. However, it looks like Lando hadn't been going too well even before the unions decided to picket.

To put things in perspective, the last update on the show that anyone got from the studio was almost three years ago. Besides the official announcement, which was made at Disney's Investor Day in December 2020, all the comments about the project amounted to "the series is still in the works."

And while the general public is used to not knowing much about a series' production process, it turns out that even the Lando writers have been kept in the dark about the project and its development.

In a recent interview with The Direct, Justin Simien, who was meant to be a part of the Lando writing team, admitted that he didn't receive any updates on the show's production — just like the rest of us.

"I certainly poured my heart and spent a lot of time working with [Disney] to put together a really great show. It feels like everybody loves it. And, you know, I was told we had to put a pause on it because of scheduling, and the next update I got, some years ago. So I don't know, I have no idea what's going on with it," the writer shared.

In addition to that, Donald Glover, who was supposed to portray Lando on the show, recently revealed that he still was in talks for the role but wasn't allowed to spill any more information about it.

Judging by the scarce information available, it looks like Lando is going nowhere at the moment. With all the asses at Disney+ to make the show happen, the delays feel very intentional.

Stay tuned to keep up with Lando and the other upcoming Star Wars movies and shows.
