Who would have thought...

It's funny what time can do to old movies, as things that seemed funny and on point at the time haven't aged very well. As painful as it is to call Iron Man 2 an old movie, it's been more than ten years since its premiere; and one particular cameo in that movie looks so different now.

Remember when Elon Musk himself showed up in the Iron Man sequel to have a little work talk with Robert Downey Jr. 's Tony Stark? At the time, Musk was considered a real-life Iron Man with his electric vehicles and space exploration.

Well, times change, and today Musk is a much more controversial figure than he was in 2010. Today, he is the owner of Twitter, and his innovations on the social media platform do not impress everyone equally.

Some believe Musk is on his way to bringing "free speech" back to social media, while others argue that the tech mogul has gone too far and shouldn't be in charge of Twitter.

These days, some people would rather call Musk a real-life Justin Hammer than a real-life Tony Stark. In the movies, Hammer is a Stark wannabe who lacks the talent to make weapons and gadgets as good as those made by Stark Industries.

Still, in the good old days, it was fun to have Elon Musk in Iron Man 2. The businessman is no stranger to making cameos in movies and TV. In addition to Iron Man 2, Musk has also appeared in The Simpsons, South Park, The Big Bang Theory, and Rick and Morty.
