It is baffling why everyone knows Antony Starr for The Boys, but not for this series.

As the martial arts crime drama TV series Warrior nears the end of its third season, it is clear that the show's revival was well worth it, as it has received an exceptionally warm reception from both critics and fans.

The show originated on Cinemax until the network was closed and then moved to Max (formerly HBO Max ).

However, with all this acclaim, another hidden gem from Cinemax seems to be unfairly forgotten, despite being what can be described as the "John Wick of television."

Banshee is an action TV show that ran for four seasons from 2013 to 2016, set in the titular town in Pennsylvania's Amish country, and follows ex-con and thief Lucas Hood, who became sheriff by stealing the identity of the real one.

After that, Hood becomes more and more involved in the local crime scene, meeting a number of colorful characters along the way.

Curiously, he is portrayed by none other than Antony Starr, who rose to worldwide fame in recent years after portraying Homelander in the TV series The Boys, and he is just as great in this show.

While the first season might be a bit difficult to get into, the show surprisingly only got better with the next seasons, maintaining the bar of quality until the end.

It is a bizarre thrill ride of high-octane action, with some of the grittiest, most visceral and bloody fight scenes ever shown on television.

The story is also astounding, though, as mentioned, it takes some time to get invested in, but then it pays off big time.

With compelling performances, charismatic characters, incredible villains and insane moments, it is beyond comprehension why everyone knows Antony Starr for The Boys, but not for this action series.

So if you are not put off by bloody fights, occasional crazy moments and a fair amount of nudity and sex, this almost forgotten gem is definitely worth checking out.
