And it brings back the good old Mulder & Scully style of duo.

Experienced TV lovers don't need much introduction to Robert and Michelle King. They created one of the most notable legal dramas of the past decade: The Good Wife, which has been nominated for dozens of Emmys, and then went on to create the successful spin-off The Good Fight. But their interests are not limited to legal drama.

Five years ago, CBS asked them to create a new series that would combine extraordinary characters, unusual cases and a gripping plot. The idea came to the showrunners 30 years ago when they were arguing about the origin of evil in our world.

Robert King believes that higher powers are to blame, while his wife Michelle tends to believe in science and psychology. The series titled Evil is the result of this discussion, which continues to this day. Each of the spouses was given a "personal" main character to represent their beliefs in the show.

And fans are calling Evil the new Hannibal in terms of quality.

“Since Hannibal ended, this is the ONLY show I've felt had the same vibe: top-notch acting, incredibly graphic violence, and bizarrely unexpected storylines,” Reddit user slashdisco wrote.

What is Evil About?

Evil introduces viewers to forensic psychologist Kristen, who is raising four daughters while her husband leads mountain expeditions and simply disappears for months at a time.

The woman receives a new, tempting offer to earn some extra money. Her skepticism and atheism attract David, a former journalist and now an agent of the Vatican.

Unable to cope with the flood of requests for help and announcements of new miracles, the Catholic Church assembles a team that can distinguish a real phenomenon of evil from an advanced mental disorder or a cunning forgery.

The duo of a skeptic and a believer (yes, just like Scully and Mulder) is diluted by a third participant – IT specialist Ben, who is responsible for the technical aspects of the investigation.

Evil is Scary and Funny at The Same Time

The show has horror episodes that would give any mainstream horror movie a run for its money. For example, a (very) creepy demon comes to Kristen at night and tortures her soul and flesh.

But we have to give the showrunners credit: Evil is not only scary, but also funny. The show exploits modern paranoid fears and turns up the absurdity to the max. For example, we learn that the main villain runs an entire factory of Internet trolls who post nothing but negativity on the Internet because doom scrolling works for the glory of Satan.

Where to Stream Evil?
