This Bridgerton Sibling’s Season Promises to Turn Out a Disaster
There is no way Netflix will be able to fix this.
Summary:
- In some ways, Bridgerton is close to an anthology series, with each season exploring the love story of a new Bridgerton sibling.
- After Daphne, Anthony and Colin find their love in the first three seasons, there are 5 more siblings waiting.
- Eloise Bridgerton, the second daughter of the family, is one of the contenders for season 4. However, fans don't see how Netflix can make her storyline consistent.
Any time a major studio like Netflix gets the rights to adapt a major novel franchise like Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, there is always the risk that the canon will be rewritten in some way. Considering that the books were written in the 2000s, some of the plot details simply don't meet modern viewers' standards.
While some of the changes are positive and made to ensure that the show introduces a variety of cultures and backgrounds, others are simply considered unnecessary. However, the fate of one character in particular is feared by fans of the novel series, and that is Eloise Bridgerton.
Who Is Eloise Bridgerton’s Romantic Interest in Books?
Although Eloise ends up an old maid in the books, she is not opposed to the idea of marriage. She rejects the proposals she receives simply because she has a higher standard for love, and none of the men meet it.
Her show counterpart, on the other hand, seems to think that any marriage is nothing but a trap for a woman, and looks miserable every time someone talks about it.
At this point, fans believe, it will be almost impossible to bring Eloise to the point of her romance with Phillip Crane without sacrificing her feminist beliefs. Netflix and Shondaland have painted themselves into a corner with Eloise's radical approach to marriage. No matter what, some people will end up unhappy.
Those who love the original version of Eloise will never accept any change, just as they don't accept the romance her character had with Theo Sharpe in season 2. Those who enjoy the forward and outspoken feminist that Eloise is in the show may read her acceptance of marriage prospects as her succumbing to societal pressures.
While it is hoped that Eloise Bridgerton will begin to mature in season 3 and begin to soften some of her views, 8 episodes may not be enough to convince viewers that she is ready to embark on her own romantic journey. So if the Bridgerton team thought she'd make a great lead in season 4, they'd better think again.
If you're interested in seeing what realizations about the world of love and marriage await Eloise in season 3, be sure to tune in to Bridgerton on May 16 on Netflix. Keep an eye out for updates and exciting announcements about season 4.
