Sometimes a true friendship can blossom even after a weird start.

The Big Bang Theory is famous for its cringe-worthy scenes throughout its 279 episodes. The bizarre things we have witnessed over 12 seasons are truly uncountable, from Sheldon not getting sarcasm (in a sweet way) to Howard's most uncomfortable behavior towards women.

However, not all of the strangest things that happened on the show were funny or embarrassing. There was something that truly touched the hearts of the fans.

As everyone remembers, Sheldon and Penny were driving each other crazy at the beginning of the show, and for quite some time after. He was totally annoyed that she was constantly intruding into his scheduled life and creating chaos. And Penny couldn't stand how obnoxious and rude Sheldon was to everyone.

However, as the story went on, this odd couple became closer, even while they were still totally different and couldn't get along with each other most of the time. No matter how strange that was even for those two, they became real friends.

Most of the fans when talking about their friendship remember one of the most iconic storylines of the sitcom, the “Soft Kitty” one. But there was also a perfect depiction of Sheldon and Penny’s friendship.

Season 9 episode 17 focused on Sheldon's birthday. His girlfriend Amy decided to throw him a surprise party, although she knew how he was likely to react... When Sheldon arrived at the party, he was so overwhelmed that he immediately ran to the bathroom.

Amy and Leonard started arguing about who should go talk to him, while Penny decided to do it herself. And that's probably one of the sweetest scenes in the whole show.

When Sheldon admits that the party is just too much for him and that he doesn't think he can handle it, she says that it's totally fine.

“If what you need is to spend your birthday in a bathroom, I'm happy to do it with you," she said to Sheldon.

Of course, after those words, Sheldon decided it was time to face his fear, and they returned to the party together. And at that moment, it became quite obvious that no one but her could have done it.
