The darkest secrets of the industry are now revealed.

As the popularity of children's and teen television reaches its peak, the actors on the two major networks that cater to these audiences have become celebrities beyond anyone's wildest dreams. But just like adult stars, fame comes at a price.

The only difference is that children and teenagers are usually deprived of the privilege of deciding whether or not they're ready for it.

Vulnerable and easily manipulated, the child actors of the 2000s are now coming forward with horror stories surrounding their path to success. New Max and Discovery Plus' docuseries, Quiet on Set, is just a little scoop on what went on behind the scenes.

Who Quiet on Set Is About?

A new documentary exposing the crimes committed at the height of Nickelodeon's success, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, focuses on Dan Schneider. He was the man behind some of the biggest TV shows that eventually put the network at the top of the industry.

However, as the documentary suggests, he wasn't the man who paid the price. Instead, he walked all over his employees, who were grossly underappreciated and trying to survive in a hostile workplace environment.

Based on the stories of not only Nickelodeon stars, but those who worked behind the cameras, Quiet on Set once again tackles the uncomfortable subject of how the entertainment industry of the 2000s has failed its young talent. Divided into 5 episodes of about 40 minutes each, this docu-series is disturbing, yet very important for any Nickelodeon fan to watch.

So far, it's not only the viewers who are horrified by all the new details this series has brought to light, but also the critics who are sure to spread the word. Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. And even though the show hasn't finished yet, it's unlikely that the score will change.

In particular, the conversation about Dan Schneider's persona has already come to an end, with the producer responding to all allegations in a 19-minute apology video. But whether this video is an adequate response to years of abuse and toxicity is not the main question.

How to ensure children are safe in today's entertainment world is what viewers are really concerned about as Quiet on Set heads toward its finale. You can catch up on the docuseries and tune in for its final episode on April 7 on Max.
