These 5 Female TV Characters Are Hated For No Reason At All
What about some compassion though?
In every TV show, there are always characters who are hated, and most of the time there's actually something to hate them for. For example, they may be murderers, traitors, thieves, or just evil people in general. Well, hating them is only fair.
But there are many female TV characters who are hated just because. You could even say that it has become a trend to hate those popular characters who are actually the protagonists of the show. Here are some examples when the hate is not deserved.
1. Karen Filippelli
This is The Office character who got even more hate than Michael in the Scott's Tots episode. She was hated mainly because she was, in a sense, an obstacle to Jim and Pam becoming a couple. But it was nothing like that.
Jim moved to Stamford after Pam rejected him, and met Karen. She was nice, they started dating, everything was mutual. But for fans, the mere fact that she was not Pam was enough to make Karen problem number one in Jim and Pam's slow-burning relationship.
2. Janice
We think that Janice got all the hate during her time on Friends because she was too much. She was bright, she was extra, she was loud. You don't know what to do with that, so it's easier to just resent her. A nasal voice shouldn’t be a reason for hatred!
However, except for the time when she kind of cheated on Chandler with her own husband, she was a good soul and never hurt anyone. She was loving and caring and was always there for Chandler when they were together.
3. Devi Vishwakumar
Never Have I Ever is a show about an Indian girl who has experienced a series of traumatic events. First her father died in front of her, then she lost the ability to walk, and then she became a total social failure in her school. So she became this aggressive, angry teenager.
Devi got a lot of hate on social media for being inconsiderate to her friends and family, for all the lies and desperate attempts to become a "cool girl." Well, on paper that all sounds pretty reasonable to be hated for, but don't the things she's been through give her a little way out?
4. Elena Gilbert
For six long seasons, Elena was the center of The Vampire Diaries, but all those years she was hated for being in the love triangle with the Salvatore brothers.
Get this. The adult vampires who have been in this world for centuries got nothing, but the confused teenager was criticized all the way to the end for not knowing what to do.
It was only after the caring, kind, empathetic Elena left the show that fans realized she was the heart of the show. Well, it's too late now!
5. Emily
Hating the only main character of a show is a new level of petty. Emily from Emily in Paris didn't deserve all the hate she got for giving Paris a little more over-the-top love than the French are really used to.
Even after her character was improved in the second season, her life and style and even the choices she made were still hated. Basically, we can say that people hate-watching this show now. Why is that? Can't you just tolerate someone being happy in Paris?
