These 10 Action Movie Ripoffs Ended Up Better Than the Original
Seeing your work ripped off may seem flattering at first — that is until it overshadows your original and becomes even more successful.
That's the case with these movies: they boldly played with the concept introduced in another work and applied it in an even better way than the original did. It's hard to get angry, because we, the viewers, get more interesting movies — especially in the action category.
Saying that these movies are blatant ripoffs was a bit of a stretch because in some cases, say, in Tarantino's Kill Bill, it's more of an homage.
The Incredibles feels more like a satire that tried to softly deconstruct the superhero movie genre long before this concept got popular in the cinema industry.
The Hunger Games used the concept of Battle Royale to highlight the societal collapse and class struggle, and although it lost a bit of an edge and wit that was present in the Japanese movie, it added something completely new.
With Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down it's safe to say that that's more likely the case of convergent evolution rather than copying because the movies are absolutely different despite having disturbingly similar premises. So don't be judgemental.
