Fan theory explains how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is still part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

All the pre-Disney Plus Marvel series got eventually canceled or concluded. It is now generally believed that those TV shows are no longer part of the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though they were considered as such at some point.

While Netflix ’s TV shows are the most obvious ones to be excluded from the MCU canon, there is one TV show that still ignites debates over its canon status. We are talking about the fan-favorite Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a series that many fans believe is better than any Marvel TV show released on Disney Plus in recent years.

A Reddit user Salty_Walty_ shared their theory on how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. might still be a part of the MCU.

So, fans have argued that the series isn’t canon anymore, especially with seasons 6 & 7 seemingly not aligning with the MCU timeline. But, the theory addresses these concerns.

Remember the season 1 finale of Loki? When He Who Remains was defeated, it opened up the possibility of multiple branching timelines. This is where the theory kicks in.

The theory suggests that seasons 6 and 7 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could actually be set in one of these branched timelines — a timeline where a nexus event prevented the blip from happening.

Nexus Event is a significant occurrence that results in the creation of a branch in the timeline, deviating from the predetermined flow of time known as the Sacred Timeline.

In seasons 5 and 7, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team used different methods, including monoliths and a time machine, to travel through time. But they also developed a multiverse travel machine that utilizes the quantum realm. And it also aligns with the rules of time travel in Endgame, suggesting that it is still the same universe.

Despite the debates and studio politics, this theory makes Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fit nicely into the MCU timeline. The series has had numerous references and connections to the movies, making it hard to dismiss as non-canon. And watching seasons 6 & 7 after Endgame and Loki could give fans a whole new perspective.
