There's Only 1 Way For Young Sheldon S7 to Finally Give Dr. Sturgis The Closure He Deserves
The man was given absolutely no credit in the original show.
Summary:
- The Big Bang Theory never mentioned one of Young Sheldon 's key characters.
- Dr. Sturgis was Sheldon's mentor for many years, but he wasn't mentioned in Sheldon's Nobel Prize acceptance speech.
- Season 7 of Young Sheldon has a chance to make it up to him and finally give him the recognition he deserves.
Fans of The Big Bang Theory were absolutely happy when they finally got the spinoff prequel of the show they love so much. And to have a glimpse on young Sheldon Cooper’s life was a perfect way to make them even more invested in the whole story.
However, fans of the spinoff had many questions after they were introduced to some important people in Sheldon's life who were never mentioned in the show. For example, Paige was his best friend, but we never heard from her in the original show.
But there was an even more important person in Young Sheldon who never got the credit he deserved in the original show, and that's Dr. Sturgis. He was the very man who introduced Sheldon to his future field of work. He was his first mentor and helped him tremendously in figuring out who he was.
Despite all this, Sheldon never mentioned the man in his Nobel acceptance speech, and many fans feel that this shows disrespect to him and are desperate for season 7 of Young Sheldon to finally make things right.
We know it was Sheldon's lifelong dream, but the guy could never have done it alone. And he did acknowledge his best friends during the speech, but that was not enough.
So what the fans are suggesting is that season 7 should emphasize the importance of the relationship between Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis, and show us the utmost respect that the boy genius had for his mentor.
For example, we can have adult Sheldon as narrator say he's sorry he didn't mention his mentor in the speech and explain the reasons why. This would be the perfect way to give the man the finale he really deserves.
That is, of course, assuming there wasn't some sort of agreement between the two of them that Sheldon would never mention Dr. Sturgis. But we doubt that this is a real thing.
In order to find out whether justice for Dr. Sturgis will be served, mark your calendars: Young Sheldon season 7 premieres February 15 on CBS.
