There's One Euphoria Character That Just Doesn't Make Sense
Looks like Sam Levinson loves Rue so much he simply tosses characters in – just to highlight some important parts of her life and not actually develop their own stories.
There is a character in Euphoria season 2 that fans believe was completely useless and never made sense in the first place.
If they're talking about your favorite, we're preemptively sorry, but it seems that people really have an issue with Elliot — and it's him they mean — being a part of the Euphoria storyline.
Elliot appears in season 2 after Rue slips back into relapse and starts doing drugs again. He is someone who brings her back into constantly being high, and even though he occasionally saves her life and cracks funny jokes, people just can't understand what the point of introducing him was.
"100% there was no point to his creation and existence in the shows universe. I'm not saying Rue and Jules didn't have a toxic relationship before his introduction, but he only proved to be a pure tornado in their relationship and initial downfall. I absolutely hate him and the second season was a let down because of him," Redditor mintofmanic said.
The downfall in relationship between Rue and Jules began back in season 1 when Jules abandoned Rue on a platform and left, effectively pushing Rue into relapse.

However, in season 2, it is her and Elliot that end up snitching to Rue's mother about her taking drugs again — a decision that both made Rue go ballistic and saved her life.
"I just think Elliot only served to show how out of hand Rue is getting. Another addict can't even be around her. She's dragging everyone down with her, some people that come from similar paths [...] and the song was just to set the requirements for them to ever be able to exist together again, because they are toxic for each other, because they are similar in their issues but Rue's completely getting out of hand," Redditor PreElement suggested when trying to explain how Elliot played a role in Rue and Jules' relationship.
No matter what you think about Dominic Fike's character in the second season, the story is not over. Euphoria has been greenlit for a third season, even though the premiere date is yet to be scheduled. In early November, it was confirmed that the filming is due to begin "soon", but no exact dates were announced.
