If you're not sure what movies will give you the creeps, here's a list of must-watch flicks from horror master Stephen King himself. These are the films that will make you shiver in your seat.

Naturally, the author of iconic horror books is no stranger to watching high quality horror and his novels were adapted for the big screen many times too.

The Mist is the first movie on the list and is a very good example of King's novel adaptation. The author was literally shocked by the film's finale joking that "There should be a law passed stating that anybody who reveals the last 5 minutes of this film should be hung from their neck until dead."

There was one change to the original ending though as the movie's writer Frank Darabont wanted something that was not in the book. And King was impressed when he saw it.

"When Frank said that he wanted to do the ending that he was going to do, I was totally down with that. I thought that was terrific. And it was so anti-Hollywood – anti-everything, really! It was nihilistic. I liked that. So I said you go ahead and do it," King said.

The Blair Witch Project is also among King's favorite horror films. After watching the story of three film students who want to shoot a documentary about a mysterious and supernatural entity called the Blair Witch you will certainly not set foot neither in a forest nor in the woods next to you.

"One thing about Blair Witch: the damn thing looks real. Another thing about Blair Witch: the damn thing feels real. And because it does, it's like the worst nightmare you ever had."

That's how the horror maestro described the 1999 film by Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick. He called the "found footage" movie a complete genius and said a big budget "would have wrecked it."

The Autopsy of Jane Doe is high on King's list of best horror films, which he does recommend to watch. The supernatural horror movie tells the story of coroners, father and son, who make an autopsy on an unidentified woman's body only to find out strange things happening inside the corpse and around themselves.

"Visceral horror to rival Alien and early Cronenberg. Watch it, but not alone," King said in one of his twitter posts.

Final Destination is a movie Stephen Kings likes a lot too. However, not the whole franchise. "Only the first [movie] is genuinely scary," says the author.

There are other horror films on King's best-of-the-best list such as The Witch, The Last House on the Left, The Changeling, Crimson Peak, Deep Blue Sea and The Strangers.
