The Witcher Fans Still Cling to Hope That the Show's Writers Will Be Fired
The petition launched by the fans of The Witcher, asking Netflix to fire the show's writers, has received almost 270 thousand signatures.
The question now is whether or not it will be enough to make the dream of The Witcher fans come true. It is not clear, however, if the dismissal of the writers will help to bring the script of The Witcher closer to the book and usher in the return of Cavill.
After all, it was allegedly the writers' mockery of the book and games that was the last straw that broke proverbial Cavill's back.
For the time being, it looks as though Netflix is not going to give an inch of ground. Liam Hemsworth has secured his role as Geralt of Rivia, while Henry Cavill, who will play the witcher for the last time in Season 3 of the show, is busy with his next Superman project under a contract with DC.
The storm that erupted after Cavill's departure from the project seems to have calmed down. Liam Hemsworth is no longer the world's most hated actor on track to ruin Netflix's The Witcher franchise.
All eyes are now on The Witcher spinoff The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is set to debut on Netflix in just over three weeks – on December 25. The miniseries, starring Michelle Yeoh, is based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski and follows the story of an elven world 12 centuries ago, focusing on the origins of the very first witcher.
Some fans may be critical of the series after seeing the trailers. But at least they won't have to fight when comparing Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth, which in itself is a good thing.
This is not the only spinoff fans will be watching. RedanianIntelligence, a website dedicated exclusively to The Witcher universe has reported that the next live-action spinoff of the series will follow the adventures of The Rats, the infamous team of young Nilfgaardian misfits.
The group will first appear in Season 3 of the franchise, and Ciri will occasionally cross paths with them. When the Rats spinoff will take place is currently a mystery, but perhaps sometime between Season 3 and Season 4. It should be noted that writing this part will be quite challenging as the Rats group is not popular among The Witcher fans, but exploring them seems logical for the universe.
