The creators recently shared their ambitious plans for the future of the series, but fans don't share their optimism.

The third season of The Witcher, a fantasy drama TV series based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, is only a month away, and fans have mixed feelings about it.

Season 3 will be the last time we see Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, the titular witcher, and considering that the second season received even more backlash than the first, fans think the show is as good as dead.

But apparently, the show's creators have a completely different opinion, and they are stunning fans with their bold plans.

Even though season 3 hasn't premiered yet, the show's casting director confirmed that The Witcher has been renewed for season 5 while speaking with Deadline.

When asked if production on season 4 is about to begin, she replied in the affirmative, adding that they will "go straight into season five" after a brief hiatus.

Fans are speechless at such overconfidence, as the creators haven't even seen how Cavill's departure will affect the ratings. The actor was officially recast and Liam Hemsworth will take his place as Geralt in season 4.

Fans point out that Henry was the main attraction of the series, because even though it did not meet the expectations of many fans, his portrayal of the character was great and one of the few things the series was praised for.

With all due respect to Liam, they are absolutely right, because no matter how great his performance will be, it is highly unlikely that fans will be as warm to him as they were to Cavill.

Besides, it's quite obvious that a large portion of them will simply quit the show after season 3, if they haven't already, without even giving the new actor a chance.

Most of the fans of the books and games were on Cavill's side, and the news of his departure from the project, with all the drama that followed, angered them greatly.

Fans also say that the show's chances of improving in other aspects are rather slim, and they believe that it might even get worse.

It has been heavily criticized for its poor handling of the source material, and even though series creator Lauren Hissrich recently stated that season 3 will be closer to the original, fans don't have much faith in her words anymore.

Other creators have stated that the original books are not to be strictly followed, and rumors have surfaced that most of them outright hate the source material, which, while not confirmed, have tarnished their reputations.

The first part of The Witcher season 3 will be released on June 29, 2023.
