The Winchesters Explosive New Episode Might Finally Explain The Retcon
This is what we have all been waiting for.

After an exhausting hiatus, The Winchesters is finally back on our screens, and it looks like at least one of the season's mysteries has been solved: we now know who was the mysterious man who handed John Winchester the letter that sent him hunting.
It was... his own son, Dean, who the fandom now believes is alive and well. According to fans who are now on cloud nine over Dean Winchester being "canonically alive" for his 44th birthday party, he is now desperately trying to heal the generational trauma and "change things".
Basically, this could explain the questionable premise of The Winchesters from the very beginning. If Dean is alive and messing with the timeline to fix his family trauma, then it's not surprising that things are not going the way they did in the original show. John hunting alongside Mary is perfectly fine if we're talking about a timeline affected by Dean's actions.
However, some people are not eager to join the massive celebration, arguing that Dean may not be alive after all.
"I don't think he's alive, but this might be his chance to change things that could lead to the reboot," Twitter user ksohara1 said.
While it's unclear if the canon will be officially changed as a result of the new details in The Winchesters, it's clearly a chance for Jensen Ackles to protest the way the original series ended. The actor has made it clear that he wasn't overly thrilled with the finale, but he had to go along with it for a lot of reasons.
Well, now that he has his own show set in the Supernatural universe, he can play with the multiverse and alternate timelines as much as he wants. It looks like the fandom would love another chance to imagine an alternate fate for the Winchester family.
How things will play out remains to be seen. The new episode of The Winchesters will air on February 7th on The CW.
