Supernatural's spinoff didn't live up to its predecessor's glory – The CW cancels The Winchesters after just one season. Is that it, or can something be done about it?

Premiering in 2022, The Winchesters follows the love story of John Winchester and Mary Campbell back in the 1970s (but with a twist).

Although the show hasn't received the greatest critical response, it has immediately become a beacon of hope for the Supernatural fandom that wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet.

Apparently, The CW is, but Jensen Ackles, the narrator of the prequel, seems to think that giving up is not an option.

After hearing the devastating news of the cancellation, the actor launched the #SaveTheWinchesters campaign on social media with the caption, "Looks like we got work to do."

It really takes you back, doesn't it?

If there is one thing you need to know about the Supernatural family, it is that they (we) can do anything. Fans were quick to support Ackles' campaign with thousands of retweets and shares.

Nothing stays dead for long indeed…

The Supernatural memes are capable of magic, we've known that since the 2010s.

Look at them, they really do!

Jensen definitely agrees as he has cooked up a tear-jerking video featuring the cast of the series and himself talking about the show and pleading with the people in power to find it a new home. Even Jensen's wife, Danneel, has joined in!

The Winchesters needs saving – it is our only chance to see Supernatural's legacy live on. The original show had three attempts to expand the universe, and the prequel about the brothers' parents is the only one that has proven successful.

Both Supernatural: Bloodlines and Wayward Sisters had huge potential, but something didn't add up to ensure their future without Supernatural.

Plus, the prequel/sequel nature of The Winchesters is what can right Supernatural's biggest wrongs (especially, the ones in the series finale) and give some characters (for instance, Dean) the closure they and their fans deserve.

Let's hope the fandom can work its magic, and the series doesn't have to end just when it started. #SaveTheWinchesters!
