The Walking Dead Star Addresses an Unexpected Death: ‘What Fun to Get to Do It’
This was the only right way to let her go.
Summary:
- The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is the sixth spin-off of the post-apocalyptic zombie franchise.
- The show follows the journey of Rick Grimes and Michonne as they fight for their love against the odds of the world they're forced to live in.
- The show's fifth episode was the final one for the franchise's antagonist, Jadis Stokes, portrayed by Pollyanna McIntosh.
Though the latest installment of The Walking Dead franchise, The Ones Who Live, focuses primarily on Rick and Michonne's survival journey, the show's fifth episode was stolen by antagonist Jadis Stokes, originally known as Anne.
Those who wanted to see her gone can now start celebrating, but be sure that the most twisted antagonist of the series went out with a bang to remember.
How Did Jadis Die on The Walking Dead?
Pollyanna McIntosh, who has played Jadis for years, must have been sad to see her character go. To be fair, after the flashbacks, many began to believe that it wasn't her, but Seth Gilliam's Gabriel who would take the fatal blow this time, but The Walking Dead chose the more predictable route.
And still managed to make an impressive spectacle out of it.
McIntosh's Jadis took her time dying, and the actress couldn't be happier with the way the team approached her character's demise. She spoke about it in a post-episode interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
“This is part of the deal with Walking Dead. And, what fun to get to do it on that show? Because they’re just so good at making you question a character and really go deep with the nuance of the grays amongst the black and white of humanity. They didn’t disappoint with how they brought me down,” she said.
With three different iterations of The Walking Dead under his belt, McIntosh has definitely gotten a taste of the best the franchise has to offer. However, as always, the story has to move forward, and no story like The Walking Dead can do that without killing someone off.
While some may feel that Rick and Michonne could have done with a little more fighting against Jadis, others may just enjoy the fast paced action and beautifully choreographed action sequences that this episode definitely didn't lack.
If you were impressed by the outburst of violence that Jadis endured before she breathed her last, you can tune in to The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live to see what else the show has in store to keep viewers hooked. Episode 6 titled The Last Time premieres March 31 on AMC.
