The Walking Dead Seriously Messed With the Cast's Heads, Star Reveals
Despite being a violent and gory show, The Walking Dead aired for around a dozen years, gathering huge ratings for its channel, AMC.
Back at the beginning of the 2010s, the series quickly became a worldwide hit, and this caused many discussions and reflections on why such a bloody and gruesome show attracted so many people all around the globe.
People were asking themselves what it said about the way our society changed over the years and what it meant for the future.
Most conclusions were pretty dark, but it never stopped The Walking Dead from continuing its victorious TV march over the years.
However, even if some of the show's critics' opinions on the nature of the show were exaggerated, we can't deny that such gore always leaves its impression on one's psyche.
TBBT's Worst Storyline Came Completely Out of Nowhere and Ruined Everything
This is why shows like The Walking Dead are restricted for children — even viewers get affected… Can you imagine what can happen to the actors?
The AMAA session James Allen McCune (he played Jimmy, Beth Greene's boyfriend, in season 2 of The Walking Dead) did on Reddit in 2011 led to an interesting revelation.
The actor told the fans how terrible the show's been for his mental health.
"I sometimes have really vivid zombie nightmares after watching the show. Do you ever come home from a long day on the set and get plagued with visions of crusty zombies all night?", Reddit user alli3theenigma asked.
James' reply to their comment was way too emotional to be fake.
"Oh my God, you have no idea. I think everyone does. It's one thing to watch a show and get scared, but to see these monsters for entire weeks at a time up close, and to LIVE the situation really messes with your head. There's some stuff towards the end of this season that kept me up at night for a long time," claimed James.
Apparently, he was not the only one who had nightmares because of the show, and it's understandable.
Smaug is the Richest LotR Character (Still Nowhere Near Elon Musk, Though)
As James Allen McCune said, imagine having lived through all the terrors of The Walking Dead, and you can only guess how poor the cast's mental health could have gotten — granted, they knew they were not dealing with real zombies, but still.
