The Walking Dead's Season 3 Hid One Easter Egg Even Die-Hard Fans Could've Missed
Even the Governor might have missed this detail even when he had both eyes.
If you are The Walking Dead fan, you definitely remember the Governor, the charismatic yet ruthless baddie, portrayed by David Morrissey, who was the first big threat for Rick’s group long before Negan and The Whisperers.
Like almost any other survivor, Philip Blake, before he became the Governor, was just a man with a family.
Philip Blake's family consisted of his daughter Penny and his wife, Mrs. Blake. Unfortunately, Mrs. Blake's life was cut short in a car accident before the apocalypse.
The only family Philip had left was his daughter, Penny. When she was bitten and turned into a walker, he couldn't bring himself to kill her. Instead, he kept her locked up and fed her bits of flesh in a desperate attempt to preserve some semblance of his former life.
In the 5th episode of season 3 we see a photo of the Governor, his wife and his daughter. Surprisingly, the woman in the photo, who played the role of Mrs. Blake is none other than Denise Huth, an executive producer for the series.
She thought she was just taking a family photo for one episode. But it got used in multiple episodes, and the last one was in the 6th episode of season 4.
In that episode, we see the Governor, now going by the name Brian Heriot, burning the photo. But don't worry, the original photo is still safe and sound with Huth, who shared this fun fact on her social media.
Huth has been with The Walking Dead since its beginning, working alongside Frank Darabont. It's been a long journey for her, dedicating 12 years of her life to the series.
Before joining The Walking Dead, Huth worked with Darabont on his 2007 movie, The Mist, based on a novella by Stephen King. She was a co-producer on this film, which starred Thomas Jane (who could have become our Rick Grimes), and several actors who later joined The Walking Dead.
The photo of the Governor’s family wasn’t the first cool Easter egg like this. In season 2, one of the family photos in the farm house is actually a photo of Jewel Wilson. Jewel Wilson is the real life mother of the late Scott Wilson, who portrayed Hershel in the show.
