There is no way the creators thought we wouldn’t notice this.

The Walking Dead, like any long-running series, has its fair share of plot holes that leave us all scratching our heads. Let's take a look at some of the biggest inconsistencies in the series.

Zombies don’t seem to decrease in numbers

It's puzzling how, after years of survival and countless battles, our heroes still find themselves knee-deep in a sea of undead. Sure, fresh corpses might turn into walkers, but shouldn't their numbers dwindle over time?

It's one of those unsolved mysteries that makes us wonder if the show's zombie math is a bit off.

Governor’s initial motivation

In the comic books, the Governor’s motivation is clear — the prison is a safe haven while Woodbury, the town he controls, is depicted as unsafe. However, in the TV show, the prison is portrayed as less secure, while Woodbury appears to be a utopia.

This raises the question: why would the Governor go after the prison when he already has a better place to be?

Characters can’t seem to hear zombies coming

Another questionable aspect of the show is how the survivors never seem to hear the zombies approaching. Zombies are slow-moving creatures that make a lot of noise as they approach.

It's hard to believe the survivors wouldn't hear them, especially when facing a horde. However, it happens quite often.

Sophia in the barn

Remember when the search for little Sophia became one of the show's most gripping storylines in season 2? We invested our emotions, hoping for a reunion, only to have our hopes crushed when she turned up in Hershel's barn as a walker.

How did anyone living on the farm not say a word about Sophia's presence? We know that Hershel and other members of his family locked zombies in the barn, so if someone led a little zombie girl in there, they certainly would have remembered it.

Zombies get dumber

One noticeable change in the series is the intelligence level of the zombies. In the first season, they exhibited some level of intelligence, such as the girl zombie picking up a teddy bear or zombies throwing objects at windows.

However, as the series progresses, the zombies seem to become less intelligent and more mindless. This inconsistency could be explained by the zombies decaying over time and losing their cognitive abilities. But most likely, it’s just another inconsistency.
