Even die-hard fans could have easily missed these sneaky little details.

If you've been wandering through the post-apocalyptic wasteland of The Walking Dead universe, then you know that this thrilling TV series is full of surprises at every turn.

There are hidden gems sprinkled throughout the show that only the most eagle-eyed fans can spot. So let's break down the best Easter eggs found in the show.

Daryl's cigarettes

Morley is a fictional brand of cigarettes that has made appearances in various TV shows and movies, including Psycho, The X-Files, Platoon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and finally The Walking Dead.

In season 5, Daryl finds a carton of Morley cigarettes and frequently smokes them.

Invincible

The Walking Dead isn't the only comic book that was created by Robert Kirkman.

In the 10th episode of season 6, Carl and Enid are reading another comic book created by Kirkman — Invincible, that got an animated adaptation on Amazon Prime Video.

Duane Jones

Duane Jones is Morgan's son who was last seen back in season 1.

In the 19th episode of season 10, Gabriel and Aaron are playing a card game, and they have a bottle of whisky on the table. If you pay enough attention, you will notice that the label is named after Duane Jones, Morgan's late son.

Creepshow

Creepshow is a 1982 iconic horror comedy anthology film, and it was referenced in The Walking Dead.

In the first episode of season 5, there is a crate that displays identical markings to the one seen in a segment from Creepshow, "Ship to Horlicks University. Via Julia Carpenter."

Johnny Depp 's Head

In the 12th episode of season 6, Rick's gang had this plan to fool the Saviors. They needed a walker 's head that resembled Gregory.

Greg Nicotero spilled the beans and revealed that they actually made one head based on Johnny Depp's face. It's pretty amazing because the head ended up looking just like him, even though Depp wasn't involved in the show.

Breaking Bad

There are many Breaking Bad-related Easter eggs in TWD. In the very first season there is a reference to Heisenberg's infamous product — blue meth.

In the same season Glenn escapes from the city driving a red Dodge Challenger, the same model of red color that Walter bought in Breaking Bad.
