Even your favorite couples were anything but healthy.

If you haven't watched The Vampire Diaries yet, you should know one thing – the relationships depicted in the show are by no means a model to follow. Healthy couples in Mystic Falls are the exception rather than the rule.

We have recalled five couples that may seem perfect at first glance, but in real life would definitely end up breaking up within like three days.

1. Jeremy and Vicki

This couple was so unhealthy that their every appearance on screen literally made us uncomfortable. First of all, Vicki hid her relationship with Elena's younger brother because she was ashamed of it. Second, she tried to get him to use illegal substances.

The only positive thing about this relationship is that it is a clear example of what not to do.

2. Jeremy and Bonnie

Jeremy clearly has some problems with relationships. At first, this couple seemed to be the sweetest and just perfect, but then Jeremy lost Bonnie, who truly loved him, through it was his own fault.

After the younger Gilbert became able to see ghosts, the spirit of his ex-girlfriend Anna appeared to him. Apparently not very farsighted, Jeremy kissed Anna as soon as she was able to briefly return to her physical body. Cheating with a ghost, really, Jeremy?

3. Damon and Caroline

This is the relationship where Damon showed all his worst treats. Caroline, who was still quite frivolous at the beginning of the series (but what a character development awaits her in the future), quickly fell in love with the mysterious and dangerous older Salvatore brother.

And that's what happens when you choose bad boys. Damon used her as a walking blood bank and tried to get closer to Elena with her help. And when Damon got bored with Caroline, he even tried to kill her.

4. Klaus and Caroline

Yes, we also shipped these two but let’s face the truth. Klaus, being the insidious villain that he is, planned to use Caroline for a ritual, but changed his mind at the last moment and replaced her with Jenna, her best friend's aunt.

He also almost left Caroline to die after she was bitten by a werewolf, but saved her at the last second. When Klaus realized he liked Caroline, he did everything he could to get her to break up with Tyler.

5. Katherine and the Salvatore brothers

Katherine proudly wears the title of the show's main manipulator, while at the same time managing to win over the fans with her deadly charm.

She skillfully played with the brothers like toys, telling that she loved them. Then she turned Stefan and Damon into vampires, pitting the brothers against each other for more than a century. The intrigues Katherine woven were so diabolical and inventive that even though she ruined many lives, it is impossible not to admire her.
