The Supernatural Episode Jared Padalecki Never Wants His Kids To See
Jared Padalecki has a pretty good reason to hide one Supernatural episode from his kids. However, according to some fans, it is one of the best episodes in the WB fantasy series.
Hands down, Supernatural has one of the biggest fandoms ever. Even though the series ended in 2019, fans don't get tired of watching and rewatching its 300 episodes.
Some of these episodes are more praised than others, but there's one Jared Padalecki would never show to his kids.
Ironically, the same episode is considered one of the best by some fans.
Years Ago Supernatural Actor Had a Stroke; Now He's Back Saving Lives - Literally
The actor behind Sam Winchester has three kids with his wife Genevieve Padalecki. The couple met on the set of Supernatural when Genevieve (then Cortese) was playing demon Ruby in Season 4. Jared revealed to Jimmy Kimmel that it was Ruby's death that he didn't want his kids to watch. The episode in question is called Lucifer Rising and is the finale of Season 4.
In the episode, Ruby who has been a trusted friend and lover to Sam Winchester turns out to be a double agent. She makes Sam kill the powerful demon Lilith whose death frees the demons' revered god Lucifer. After realizing her betrayal, Sam holds Ruby while his brother Dean kills her with a special knife. It is this particular scene that Jared Padalecki is so hopeful his kids will never see. For children, it would look like "Daddy and Uncle Jensen" were killing their Mommy, the actor shared with Jimmy Kimmel.
"Not even in their 30s should they see that," Kimmel confirmed jokingly.
He is not wrong. What an uncomfortable family movie night this episode would make for! While Padalecki pretends the episode where he and his friend are killing his wife doesn't exist, some fans think it is one of the best episodes on the show.
"One of the better moments on the show is when Ruby turns and you realize she's just been leading Sam to killing Lilith just so he could free her daddy Luci all along IMO," one of the fans wrote on Reddit.
It was a truly shocking moment and a good writing decision. Almost no one saw this coming, and viewers loved the twist. Genevieve Padalecki performed this challenging role perfectly, making all viewers hate her character.
"I love that they made her evil. Most other shows especially CW shows would have gone the misunderstood good demon sleeping with the protagonist route, Supernatural made her a manipulative bitch," a fan commented.
