It was 1987 when a fresh-faced Glenn Medieros burst onto the music scene with his version of the George Benson track Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You.

The song was a massive success and led to Medieros going on a world tour at the age of just 17 that saw him sing live in over 40 countries.

But clearly, his love wasn't music, as the one-time singing sensation now pursues a very different career as a head teacher in his native Honolulu.

His most famous single, which spent 4 weeks at the top of the UK charts, was released when he was just 16. It also topped the charts in Ireland, France and the Netherlands. Although it only reached number 12 in the US singles chart.

But even before his pop career took off, he'd been putting his voice to good use, helping his father entertain guests on a tour bus around the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

And as is the case with so many child stars, his second track, recorded with Bobby Brown, was less successful, only reaching number 12 in the charts. He later recorded Under Any Moon with The Jets, a song that was featured in the movie Karate Kid Part II.

And that was pretty much it for his career in music. He instead took up a teaching role, and hordes of teenage girls took down the posters from their bedroom walls after realising his love had, in fact, changed.

Medeiros, who has Portuguese heritage went on to marry in 1996 and now has a daughter and a son. So, how has his face reappeared online and revealed the later life of this 80s teen sensation?

Well, his daughter Lyric is a law school student in Houston, Texas who recently appeared on American Idol and has more than 329,000 followers on TikTok. And she frequently references her dad's pop star career – and posts pictures and videos with him.

She even posted a video on Instagram in August 2022 that saw her duet with her dad on his classic song which not only showcased her own talent but also demonstrated that there's still life in Glenn Medieros' singing voice.

Whether the two ever get together to release a track together remains to be seen. But what's not in doubt is that the Medieros' are clearly a talented family with a penchant for music – and the limelight.
