We’re looking forward to the next season.

Even though the move from Fox to ABC was one of the scariest moments for all 9-1-1 fans expecting the worst, it ended up being a blessing in disguise.

From the production value to the realization of fans' most anticipated theories, it was clear from day one how much hope the network was putting into its new procedural.

Now that the show has been renewed for another season, and fans can expect a longer, pre-strike season on their screens, they're speculating that 9-1-1 will be integrated with another show under the ABC umbrella. The Rookie was the title that was mentioned the most in all the conversations.

Is There 9-1-1 and The Rookie Crossover?

While there wasn't an opportunity to do much with the first 9-1-1 season under ABC's tenure, the creators may have a little more fun with the next one. It would be expected to explore the possibility of collaborating with another network's procedural.

And while the potential crossover with Grey's Anatomy is going to be off the list for quite some time, as fans aren't over the cancellation of Station-19, The Rookie is a perfect pick to get started. Both shows are set in Los Angeles, so there won't be any struggle to connect the teams location-wise.

Plus, the crossover would give all TV fans the duo of Angela Bassett and Nathan Fillion, what more could you ask for?

The idea, originally brought up by Oliver Stark, who plays Evan Buckley as a part of the 9-1-1’s firefighting team, eventually reached the cast of The Rookie.

For example, Eric Winter, who plays Sergeant Tim Bradford, was excited to explore what this crossover could look like.

“I’ve been hearing people talk about that. Wouldn’t that be funny?… I love all those actors on that show, that would be amazing, that would be super fun. But I don’t know if it will happen,” he told Hello Magazine.

Whether or not that will happen is a mystery at this point. However, fans' hopes are already high, and given the humorous tone of both shows, everyone believes that the dynamics between the characters are the ones worth exploring.

If you're interested in the prospect of an unexpected crossover, or just can't wait for the upcoming seasons of The Rookie and 9-1-1 to hit your screens, be sure to keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates so you don't miss the premiere day announcements.
