There may be viewers out there who watched The Walking Dead and didn't like Glenn, but we don't know them. He's just a good guy who got better every season. So his completely unexpected and gruesome death came as a real shock.

Shortly before his actual death, fans thought Glenn was dead when he fell right into the hands of the walkers, but after some time he miraculously escaped. Only to die again a few episodes later. Yes, this was definitely done for ratings.

Fans of The Rookie compare this situation to what is happening now on their favorite show, and they do it for a reason. Writers are making the characters break up, often for the silliest and most invalid reasons, only to bring them back together a few episodes later – all for the sake of drama. But maybe viewers don't need that much drama?

However, it is not only abrupt and unnecessary breakups that fans consider the reason why viewers continue to stop watching the show, which can lead to a sharp decline in ratings. The Rookie started as a not-so-brilliant, but a good show with all the clichés of the genre.
It had a special kind of humor from Nathan Fillion and realistic situations from the life of law enforcement officers. However, according to some viewers, six seasons is too much for The Rookie, which simply ran out of all the exciting plots for John Nolan and began to focus too much on supporting characters.
“I started watching this show to see Nolan as a middle aged rookie on patrol. The show has long since ran out of plotlines for him and focuses way too much on side characters in on again/off again soapy relationships and implausible criminal scenarios,” Reddit user FantasticMeddler wrote.
The Rookie Was Renewed for Season 7
However, despite such complaints from fans, The Rookie has been renewed for a seventh season, and who knows, maybe in the new chapter of John Nolan's story, the show will find its spark and make fans fall in love with it all over again.
There is no exact release date for the seventh season of The Rookie yet, but it is known that it will be released in 2025.
