Season 1 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has come to its finale, and the audience is already waiting for season 2 wondering if all the criticism coming with season 1 is considered by the creators of the show when creating the next chapter.

Amazon Prime's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's books has become not only the most expensive TV show of all time but also one of the most hated. The show has been targeted with a flood of criticism even before it premiered in September.

Numerous fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's works, including Elon Musk, took to the internet to express their discontent with the prequel to the Lord of the Rings. Some called the show "the most expensive disaster ever made", others didn't like the idea of "modern politics" being force-fed to the fantasy fans. Many criticized the show's incoherent writing, weak dialogues and storytelling, along with nonexistent chemistry between the characters.

Balrog Tease in Rings of Power Doesn't Make Any Sense

The main concern of numerous Tolkien fans was the lore conflicts in the show. Some characters from Tolkien's works were never included; others were altered beyond recognition, along with some rules in the LOTR Universe. As a result of this backlash, the prequel was review bombed on IMDb. To stop this endless wave of criticism, Amazon disabled reviews for the show.

Looks like the co-creators of the show, Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, intend to follow in the footsteps of Amazon and ignore the haters when creating season 2 of The Rings of Power. In an interview with Vulture, the co-creators admitted they might pay attention to the audience's reaction but their own experience with season 1 will become the main source for change in season 2.

Sorry, Kids: The Rings of Power is Not For Gen Z

Fortunately, the main concern of the co-creators coincides with that of the LOTR dedicated fan base. Patrick McKay said that the storytelling will be changed in season 2. The creators want to give more emphasis to each individual scene and its relevance to the big picture. Every single scene has to go back to the fate of Middle-Earth.

While some viewers are disappointed by such a response, others are looking for the continuation of The Rings of Power, hoping the show will pick up the speed and show true admiration for the source material.
