The Real Reason You Don't See Jack Reagan's Tony Terraciano on Blue Bloods Anymore
So where is Jack?
Summary
- Blue Bloods Season 14A is coming to an end.
- So far, however, the season has not featured the once-recurring character Jack Reagan.
- There are two reasons for this, within the storyline and outside of Blue Bloods.
We are still dealing with the incredibly disappointing news that CBS has decided to cancel Blue Bloods for Season 14. Add to that the fact that the network has renewed another police procedural, S.W.A.T., after already announcing its cancellation, and the move seems completely unfair.
But unfortunately, the CBS execs are not even influenced by the pleas and demands of the cast and crew, as well as the viewers themselves, whose petition to save the show on Change.org has already gathered over 17,000 signatures.
Nevertheless, all this shows how much the audience's interest in the show has not waned, almost 14 years after its debut in 2010. But we should prepare ourselves for the fact that the story of the Irish Catholic Reagan family, long involved in law enforcement in New York City, will come to an end this December.
The main appeal of Blue Bloods is far from police investigations and ethical debates. Many people watch the show for the great family dynamics. And yet, Season 14 doesn't follow through with its formula for success, because not once does one of the Reagans, Danny's son Jack, show up for the family dinners.
Let's find out where the actor is now, what happened to the character, and whether we should expect his appearance in the remaining episodes.
Number of Episodes Featuring Tony Terraciano
Jack, the son of Daniel and Linda Reagan, played by Tony Terraciano, first appeared on the show in 2010. For many years, his role was a recurring one on Blue Bloods, but beginning in Season 10, his status was changed to a guest character and the actor began to make less and less appearances on the project.

In-Story Explanation for Jack Reagan's Absence
The reason is simple. As time on Blue Bloods flows in line with the real world, Danny's son grew up with each season, and one day it was time for him to enroll in college.
Jack had originally planned to follow in his family's footsteps and become a Marine, but his father showed him that the Reagans were free to choose their own destiny and that you didn't have to end up a cop to be a good Reagan. So Danny convinced him to go to college so he could have time to think about his career path.
It is unknown what the character's college major is, but Jack has expressed a desire to become a doctor like his late mother.
The Real Reasons and Terraciano's Future Career Plans
However, the real reason may be that Terraciano, like his character, is now involved in academia. In 2018, he enrolled at Vanderbilt University to study neuroscience, and after graduating in 2022, he enrolled at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine to pursue an MD.
The actor has never stated any plans to give up his acting career, although according to him, it has never been his main goal.
'Sometimes I'll be at the movie theatre and someone will recognize me and my friends will be like. I always forgot you're a movie star. I'm like come on,' he told CBS News.
As of Season 14, Jack is already 23 years old, so who knows, we may yet see Tony Terraciano as Jack Reagan on our small screens. In the meantime, the new episode of Blue Bloods will air on CBS this Friday, May 10.
