The Real Reason Why Lola Glaudini Left Criminal Minds
And where is the actress now?
Over the course of 15 seasons of Criminal Minds and 2 more of Criminal Minds: Evolution, there have been many changes in the cast, including some unfortunate departures. Some of the characters have naturally reached the end of their respective arcs, and others have had to be written off, sometimes in a very brutal manner.
Even though Lola Glaudini only spent one full season in the cast, the death of her character Elle Greenaway left a void in many viewers' hearts. Luckily, the real reason for the actress' departure wasn't nearly as brutal as Agent Greenaway's final minutes on screen.
Why Did Lola Glaudini Leave Criminal Minds?
While the departure of some cast members from procedural dramas is expected, especially after they reach the 10-season milestone, it usually doesn't happen for much longer than one season. Typically, actors leave successful projects to explore new opportunities. In Glaudini's case, however, it was a much easier decision.
The actress herself never confirmed or denied the reasons given by Criminal Minds writer and producer Ed Bernero in his 2006 interview with the Los Angeles Times. He explained that Glaudini was unhappy in Los Angeles and wanted to return to her home on the East Coast.
Although it was hard to part with Agent Greenaway at the time, things eventually worked out the best they could. To fill her place on the team, Criminal Minds introduced another current fan favorite, Paget Brewster's Emily Prentiss, who quickly charmed the audience and made them forget about Glaudini's departure.
Where Is Lola Glaudini Today?
Although the actress preferred living on the East Coast, she continued to work in television and film, eventually returning to California, where she now lives with her husband and two sons. As of now, the actress is taking a break from social media, so you won't find any updates until April 2023.
However, you can still stream some of Glaudini's projects if you're interested in what she's been up to. In 2010, she starred in NBC's Persons Unknown as Kat Damatto. She has also appeared in the recurring role of Anita Novak on Ray Donovan. The actress has also been seen in episodic roles on White Collar, Law & Order, and Blue Bloods.
And if you are feeling nostalgic and want to go back to the very beginning of Criminal Minds, be sure to stream season 1 on Paramount Plus.
