Her one-liners were the best!

Summary:

  • Desperate Housewives is a legendary show about people living together in a fictional neighborhood.
  • All the show’s characters have many flaws, but there was only one who embraced them all.
  • Karen McCluskey was definitely the best person in the show and deserves all the love from fans.

Desperate Housewives is one of those shows that you never get tired of, because every time you watch it it gives you new ideas to think about.

For example, the first time you watched it, you probably hated Gaby Solis for the affair with John.

But the second time around, you probably sympathized with her character, and even though you understood that what she did was absolutely wrong, you might still understand her reasons.

All of the show's characters were shown at their best and their worst. For example, if we continue to talk about the Solis family, we saw Carlos go from the business shark who treated Gaby like an object to a passionate husband and father who was willing to kill for his family.

Or the Scavos, we saw them go from being a unit that was completely in sync to being on the verge of breaking up because they were unable to tell each other their truth.

But there was one person who was always upfront about how she felt about any given neighbor or situation. Yes, of course we are talking about Karen McCluskey.

Kathryn Joosten's one-of-a-kind character started out as a supporting character, but the love she received from fans led the showrunners to make her a recurring character and then a series regular.

At first, you may have thought McCluskey was just a rude old woman who wanted to make everyone's life miserable, but then you realize just how big and pure her heart was.

She was always there for her friends, but she never hid her annoyance with them, confronting them when they were in the wrong. At first this irritated her neighbors, but later they understood the treasure of having a friend like Karen.

The thing about her is also that whatever she did, even the ridiculous stuff like keeping her husband's body in the freezer, was met with an "oh, that's still okay" from the audience, and we understand why.

The best scene with Karen was in court when she blamed herself for killing Gaby's stepfather. She knew she was dying of cancer and realized it would cost her nothing, so she defended her friends as only she could.

If you feel like you've missed all the hilarious moments with Karen, it's time to binge-watch Desperate Housewives again. The show is available to stream on Hulu.
