The Office Reference in Schitt's Creek We All Completely Missed Somehow
Could you imagine your two favorite sitcoms being connected? Well, now you can.
This is not a drill, folks: Schitt's Creek may have subtly referenced The Office in its third season, and it's the kind of multiverse we never knew we needed.
Even the jaws of OG fans of both shows may drop to the floor when they realize that in season 3, episode 11, titled Stop Saying Lice!, Alexis tells her boyfriend Ted that one of their clients has lice. Guess what name she uses? Meredith.
Now, this may or may not have been a subtle reference to The Office season 9 episode 10, titled Lice, when Pam accuses Meredith of being the one who brought lice into the office. The possible reference was spotted by Redditor Wagwan99999.
One fan jokingly wondered how Moira could have left Meredith's wig from The Office without comment; that's assuming, of course, that the Rose family matriarch and the Dunder Mifflin employee somehow managed to meet. Others sighed about the fact that both shows are now over and fans will never get a crossover.
The Office ended two years before Schitt's Creek began airing on CBC, so it's entirely possible that the Canadian sitcom did indeed wink at the NBC classic. The odds are even higher considering how much Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose) loves The Office. The Schitt's Creek star has long called the NBC series her "go-to safety blanket".
The Office ended in 2013 after nine seasons, while Schitt's Creek ran on CBC from 2015 to 2020, ending after six seasons.
