Who do you think will not survive?

Summary:

  • The Office was an iconic sitcom that aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013.
  • Looking at all the other series comebacks and remakes, fans decided to imagine The Office reunion 20 years later.
  • Turns out, everyone believes that one couple from the finale isn’t going to make it for much longer.

Although many believe that The Office perfectly captures the absurdity of what goes on in most offices every day, it's actually not that close to real life. But the more saturated and cartoonish the characters are, the more fun the show's creators can have with them. And The Office writers definitely took advantage of that.

Still, at the very end, the creators couldn't deny fans some of the most anticipated happily ever afters for the beloved couples. Jim and Pam, Michael and Holly, Dwight and Angela, and Phyllis and Bob all ended up in committed relationships. However, fans don't think that happiness will last for all of them.

Will Jim and Pam Stay Together?

Aside from the constantly unstable pairing of Ryan and Kelly, who will probably end up breaking up and getting back together every two months, fans on the r/DunderMifflin subreddit decided to test which couple would have been the weakest in the long run.

And despite all the challenges each of them faced throughout the show, only one ended up being the weakest link. As the majority of long-time viewers of The Office believe, Bob and Phyllis would have been a couple that wouldn't have survived long enough for the show's 20th season.

What's even more interesting is that while the couple was almost unanimously chosen, the reasons everyone gave varied in their level of absurdity. Some suggested the darkest, but very realistic, scenario that Bob would not make it for another 20 years because he already had a family history of heart disease and was out of shape.

Others dive deeper into the lore and suggest scenarios for the couple's divorce. Some believe that Bob cheated on Phyllis with Sue, others that Bob ended up in prison for the hit-and-run and Vance Refrigeration mobster activities. Either way, Phyllis is unlikely to continue such a failed marriage.

Though there have been a few comments alluding to the fact that the foundation for other couples has been just as shaky, the majority of The Office viewers have made their choice. So now, when the time comes to make The Office reunion episode, the writers had better stick to a story carefully crafted by the fans.

And if you can't wait for the return announcement and want to dive back into the world of The Office, be sure to stream the show on Peacock.
