The Office Cast Imagined as Friends Characters, and It’s Utter Perfection
These two glorious sitcoms do not seem to have anything in common, or do they?
Friends predates The Office, but that doesn’t mean that the latter’s characters can’t be reimagined in the most iconic sitcom’s universe. One fan actually made a Friends-stylized opening sequence with The Office’s cast, and it looks pretty lit.
This got us thinking: what are The Office characters’ Friends counterparts, and how do they fit in with the romantic storylines?
Jim Halpert is some weird mixture between Ross Geller and Chandler Bing, but we like the result regardless. Just like Ross, Jim is hated by some fans because of his sort of abusive behavior in the relationship. However, Jim is also much more lighthearted than Ross – with all this pranks and jokes, he would be better suited as Chandler!
Pam Beesly suffers the same fate. There is a little bit of both Rachel Green and Monica Geller in her. She’s the most popular girl at the office (and a part of a major love triangle), which is reminiscent of Rachel. However, she’s a bit of an OCD freak and overly responsible, which screams Monica!
Dwight Schrute is complicated. Like Joey Tribbiani, he is innocently delirious about the reality, while at the same time his nerdiness and desperation to be right and liked is all Ross, for sure. Although, Angela Martin is no Rachel…
Kelly Kapoor, however, is a pre-pilot Rachel through and through. She adores fashion, thinks highly of herself, and is kind of high-maintenance (not always in a good way). Does that mean Ryan Howard is her Barry? Seems logical.
Erin Hannon is a 100% Phoebe Buffay, and you know it. They are both adoringly weird, not afraid to show it, and make you want to hug them all the time. Although, Phoebe is much more feisty when needed, Erin could never survive the street life.
Andy Bernard is, of course, Joey – but just a tad more annoying than his Friends counterpart. Minus the corny nicknames and whatever is going one with him in the later seasons, Andy is a sweetheart. The real question is, could he pull off Joey’s “How you doin’?”?
If you thought that we’ve forgotten about Michael Scott, we haven’t. He is just such a unique character that no sitcom character trope fits him. He would probably just be unapologetically himself in the Friends universe.
