That one night… He could have made everything alright…

The Office is definitely one of those shows you can watch straight after it ends, over and over again. Because every time you do, there's something new, something you didn't really pay enough attention to.

And that goes for the plot as well as for the characters.

And there are some scenes that just capture the imagination of the fans. One of those scenes happened in an iconic episode titled Casino Night.

It was the final episode of the second season. And frankly, a lot in that episode was quite disturbing.

Michael was having a great time with two ladies he had invited to the event, Carol and Jan, and making them both (but especially Jan, of course) feel awkward was definitely an uncomfortable thing for the fans to witness. But something more serious happened in this episode.

Yes, the conversation between Jim and Pam that broke not only Jim's heart, but the hearts of all the thousands of fans who wanted them to be together from the very first episode of the show.

But unfortunately, Pam wasn't mature enough at the time to understand what really matters in life and decided to stay in her comfort vacuum.

Devastated, Jim walked out of the office building and found Jan there, feeling down and smoking near her car. They had a nice chat, he even complimented her on her looks.

It was actually at this time that he finally took the job at the Stanford branch. But fans watching this scene for the first time made them cringe.

The thing is, the scene itself was very sexy, the smoking Jan, vulnerable Jim, standing together in the dark, both rejected… Anything could have happened! And fans felt it.

"I always thought they had surprising chemistry here. This was also before they made the swerve with Jan being so nuts as a character so I think it could have been a legitimate plotline to pursue instead of going the Karen route," Redditor LushGerbil said.

But a blooper in which we actually see Jim go for the kiss blew fans away. They started sharing their theories about how everything would go between them if that kiss actually happened.

Some of the fans were sure that Jan is not the right fit for Jim even in the terms of being her one night stand. But the rest of fans actually thought it was the right time for them to go for it.

"It's not that far-fetched to think they were both feeling down and could have sought for a booty call. For Jan, she either has to get a hotel or drive 2 and a half hours back to New York. This also adds to the scene in Dinner Party when Jan is trying to dance with Jim and he's having none of it," Redditor ceez99 pointed.

Still, the fact that it never happened shows how mature both characters really are, even when feeling really down.
