The Most Sickening Criminal Minds Episode Still Gives Fans The Creeps
Criminal Minds has given itself a reputation for producing some of the most disturbing content on television.
There are countless opinions on which episode is the most bizarre with a consensus leading toward one. Today we're looking at the sickening episode and why it still creeps fans out to this day.
It Starts With a Stroke of Luck
Lucky is the eighth episode of the third season of the show. It is centered around a cannibalistic & satanist serial killer. The degree to which the episode displays the murderous acts is what has fans creeped out. The ritualistic carving of pentagrams into the chests of his victims ties themes of the occult to the show, which is creepy enough in itself.
However, after abducting the women, before their murders, the killer forces them to eat human fingers. At one point, when the body of Abby Kelton is being analyzed, the number of fingers in her stomach were tied back to six different individuals. Most of the fingers belonged to missing prostitutes in the area.
Later in the show after being (finally) caught by the BAU — aside from his satanic shrine — his cookbook is also found. In a fashion reminiscent of Jeffery Dahmer, the killer has recipes for dishes such as "Skewered She" and "Kobe Girl Steak". Upon deeper investigation into his hideout, a massive walk-in freezer is found housing the remains of his victims. However, one of the victims is unaccounted for.
This is where the already sickening episode gets really screwed up. One of the killer's methods (heavily discussed by fans) of discarding the remains was to cook them in a stew. After making the stew, he managed to feed it to searchers that were working on the case. As it would turn out, the remains within that stew were those of the missing girl.
Not to Everyone's Tastes
We understand it, cannibalism is one of the most horrific and nauseating acts one can commit. It is no wonder that so many fans have labeled this as the most disturbing episode. On top of the subject matter, the lengths the killer goes to throughout his killing process are worse than anything we could imagine.
It becomes scary when understood that cannibals do walk among us. Though it may be a one-in-a-million chance of you encountering one, the fact hovers over you like a shadow after watching this.
