That wasn't on anyone's bingo card for the grand finale.

The finale of The Flash hit hard for fans who have been with the show for over a decade.

Saying goodbye to the characters you love and care about is never easy, but it is especially hard knowing how quickly the memory of the CW's Flash will be replaced by the DCU 's Flash for the general public.

However, the writers and producers took the opportunity to make the finale of The Flash the most epic, heartfelt, and promising episode to end the story on the highest possible note.

The audience got to see it all: from the strongest villains to Barry Allen saving the day, from long-awaited proposals to even more long-awaited resurrections, from the beauty of birth to the beauty of creating new speedsters.

Barry Allen took it upon himself to create new speedsters, blessing three people with the power to "create a world where nothing need be impossible.

Beyond the obvious sentiment behind this moment, fans couldn't help but notice a subtle nod to the finale of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the creation of new slayers.

While it may seem like a stretch, the possibility is higher than you think, considering it has happened before.

Looking back at season 6 and the iconic musical episode crossover with Supergirl, Andrew Kreisberg, who was an executive producer on the show at the time, admitted to taking some inspiration from Joss Whedon's work.

"You think of 'Hush' or 'The Body' or 'Once More, With Feeling,' and what's great about those episodes is that they didn't stop the ongoing narrative of the season to go off and do something fun. Those episodes really spoke to what the characters were going through," he said in a discussion on the PaleyFest panel.

Whether that little nod in the finale was intentional or just a fun coincidence that came naturally from the show's two storylines, we may never know for sure.

Either way, it was a nice way to end The Flash's story, and opened some doors for potential spinoffs, if they ever come.
