HBO's House of the Dragon is one of the biggest shows this year, and one of the best-received, both by the critics and the audience. So, the show's actors getting nominated for Emmys – as well as for other awards, such as Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards – is a given.

But this raises a very important question – how the cast is going to be divided in terms of main and supporting roles in their nominations for the upcoming winter awards? And now some information about it had finally appeared courtesy of Gold Derby.

HBO has submitted one lead actor for contention, Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, as well as one lead actress, Emma D'Arcy as the adult Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Not surprising.

Long-Haired Emma D'Arcy Looked Like a Whole Other Person; Here's Proof

Paddy Considine is widely praised for his performance as Viserys the Peaceful, and even said to be the actor who carried most of Season 1 on his shoulders. Praises for Emma D'Arcy are definitely less common and less effusive. But if you paid attention, you could tell that the showrunners clearly consider her the central female character of House of the Dragon, and the drama resulting from Viserys naming Rhaenyra the heir to the Iron Throne the heart of the show.

Five supporting actors have been submitted for awards recognition: Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Matthew Needham as Lord Larys Strong, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon.

TV critics and fans alike now believe that Rhys Ifans and Matt Smith are the main contenders on this list, and both deserve awards for their roles.

The network also has submitted five supporting actresses as well: Milly Alcock as young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Emily Carey as young Alicent Hightower, Olivia Cooke as adult Alicent Hightower and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria.

So, I guess, bad news for those fans who root for the Greens – your Queen is only a supporting character. And the two versions of her will have to compete against each other for the award, too.

In the case of supporting actresses, favorites are harder to determine, so we can only wait for opinions of jurors.
