The Crowded Room: Shocking Real-Life Story Behind The Show
The portrayal of this character turned out to be so difficult that Tom Holland decided to take a break from acting for a year.
The screenplay that has been gathering dust for the past 30 years is finally going to be made into a show. Tom Holland will star in an atypical role for him in the series The Crowded Room.
The Crowded Room is a series about a man named Danny Sullivan who is arrested for participating in a shooting. The suspect falls into the hands of investigator Rya Goodwin.
She notices that Danny is different from the rest of the criminals. While talking to Danny, Rya realizes that the truth is much more complicated than it seemed at first.
The story will develop through Ria and Danny's conversations, during which the viewers will learn the truth about the protagonist's past and motivations.
The Crowded Room is inspired by the novel The Minds of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes.
In the seventies, Milligan was accused of committing crimes of varying severity, but was acquitted after being diagnosed with a dissociative identity disorder.
The coincidence of the names Milligan and Sullivan is also a reference to this story.
Billy Milligan, born in 1955, claimed to have 24 personalities, each with its own character and individual traits. He also had a "super-personality," which was like a boss to all the other personalities.
Among the 24 personalities, there were two dominant ones, not counting Billy himself: the Englishman Arthur Smith, an intellectual, and the Yugoslav Ragen Vadaskovinich, a military man who knew contact martial arts and knew how to use weapons.
When Billy Milligan was twenty years old, he was imprisoned for an armed robbery of a pharmacy. He was released in 1977 and was soon charged with rape. A
psychiatric evaluation was conducted and Milligan went from a young criminal to a medical phenomenon.
Recently it was announced that Tom Holland will stop acting for the next year and go on vacation. The reason was that acting in The Crowded Room turned out to be too hard and exhausting for the actor.
Holland called it the hardest shoot of his career. After the filming was over, he went to Mexico for a week without telling anyone and just laid on the beach.
But that was not enough for him and now he plans to spend the next year with his family.
