The "Cheesiest" Reveal in The Rings of Power Faces Backlash
Sometimes playing the nostalgia card is not the best decision.
It seems that the big cliffhanger of episode 7 did not even feel that big to the majority of fans because of the way it was delivered.
Even though Southlands have basically officially turned into Mordor, fans lack enthusiasm to appreciate the cliffhanger enough.
Some said that "you can't reveal Mordor's Name in a more boring way," while others voiced concerns that the same "cheesy" way of revealing mysteries can be used in the finale as well.
"That was such a cheesy reveal, I almost laughed at how badly it was done. They chose to do that instead if give Adar a line about it, it would have been so easy and much more effective." – u/cobalt358
Now many fans are actually concerned that the creative team behind The Rings of Power will choose a similar approach to finally resolve another one of long-standing mysteries – the true identity of Sauron; one can only hope that The Rings of Power won't do the same with Halbrand once he's revealed to be Sauron.
In fact, chances of Halbrand being revealed to be Sauron in disguise have dramatically increased now that his homeland has effectively been confirmed to be the stronghold of all evil in Middle-earth. Even before that, fans have been pointing fingers at him as potential Sauron, even though there are still a lot of other candidates: from the Stranger to... basically everyone else in the show.

Season 1 is set to go out with a bang on Friday, October 14, wrapping up Galadriel's audacious mission to find and punish the dark wizard who destroyed her homeland and killed her brother.
The season, however, is likely to end things with yet another cliffhanger, with fans fearing that the identity of Sauron will not even be revealed in order to hook everyone up and tease season 2. The premiere date for it remains to be scheduled, but Amazon has already confirmed it.
