The Buccaneers’ Main Secret: Who Is Nan’s Real Mother?
We have our prime suspect.
Summary:
- Now the main mystery of The Buccaneers is who Nan's biological mother is.
- It is most likely to be Laura Testvalley, the governess of the St. George family, who remains the most mysterious character so far.
- Laura seems to have deliberately set Nan up with Theo, and also seems to have some kind of secret with Tracy, Nan's father.
Six episodes of the new Apple TV project The Buccaneers have already been released. We watched the champagne flow like a river and the American women from New York dance and have fun until they drop, shocking the prim British aristocracy and pedantic grooms.
The deepest and most developed character at the moment is Nan – although she said at the beginning of the first episode that she was not the main character of this story, her background is most fully revealed.
Nan’s Real Mother Is Probably Laura Testvalley
All viewers who have watched at least five episodes are haunted by one question – who is Nan's biological mother? As we know, Nan's father, Tracy, cheated on his wife, Patty, who decided to keep the baby girl and hide her origins even from the girl herself.
So far, the most popular and the most logical guess among fans is that Nan's real mother is governess Laura Testvalley. Laura remains a rather mysterious character, but the hints the show's creators have left us are literally pointing to the fact that the governess may be Nan's real mother.
There're Hints Throughout The Whole Show
It is possible that Patty decided to keep Laura around to control her – any mention of Mrs. St. George raising the daughter born of her husband's affair could ruin both Patty's and Nan's reputations.
Moreover, it could have been some kind of punishment from Patty – Laura could have helped raise Nan, watched her grow from a girl into a woman, even felt that the girl loved her, but never had the opportunity to tell her the truth.
Also, it seems rather suspicious that when Nan was sent away, Laura specifically brought her close to Theo's castle, as if pushing the two to "accidentally" meet. What mother wouldn't want her daughter to marry a Duke?
So far, the most direct evidence that Laura was Tracy's lover is the exchange of glances between the two in the episode Failed Betrayal. It was obvious that Laura and Tracy had a secret and a history that they were keeping from others.
