The Boys Season 3 Chose to Ignore Season 2's Biggest Mystery
The Boys seems to have forgotten about the Cindy arc. Or has it?
The Boys Season 3 finale left viewers confused about one unsolved mystery of Season 2.
"Where is Cindy? She hasn't appeared at all this season," fans asked on social media after Season 3 ended.
Cindy was an intriguing character introduced in Episode 6 of Season 2 titled The Bloody Door Off. In the episode, The Boys and Starlight follow a lead leading them to Sage Grove Center, a facility where Vought experiments on people testing different formulas of Compound V. Cindy is one of the test subjects at the facility. She uses telekinesis to crush people and objects and seems very powerful. After the Boys break into the facility, the Supe escapes and lets all the other prisoners out. At the end of the episode, we see her hitchhiking along the highway. And she never appears on the show again.
The Boys: A-Train At Risk of Becoming a Kanye Parody in Season 4
Leaving the Cindy arc out of Season 3 looked like an oversight on the part of The Boys' creators. Season 3 starts with Hughie working with Victoria Neuman on regulating the activities of Supes. Surely, such a dangerous Supe as Cindy is bound to get their attention. But she is never mentioned and seems to be forgotten about.
However, Cindy's storyline is not over. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed in a Twitter video following the release of the Season 2 finale that the creators didn't forget about the Supe, and she would definitely appear on the show again.
"When you're running the show, it's always smart to plant little land mines everywhere that you can go back to and use – and Cindy will return," Kripke said.
The showrunner didn't specify when or how Cindy would return, so many fans were expecting to see her in Season 3. However, it didn't happen, and now fans wonder whether the Supe's appearance is planned for Season 4. If so, this is being kept a secret. If not, her appearance could happen in later seasons when the Boys need a powerful weapon to fight Homelander. With her powerful telekinesis, Cindy could be the one who is able to crush him.
While Cindy's fate after escaping Vought remains a mystery, The Boys fans have their own hilarious theories about her whereabouts.
"She got copyright struck by the Stranger Things team," one of the fans joked on Reddit meaning that Cindy is basically a parody of Eleven from Stranger Things.
