The Boys: Did Simon Pegg Just Spoiled Hughie's Dad's Fate in Season 4?
Could the Campbell family reunion mean the end of Hugh Jr.?
Simon Pegg's latest Instagram post left many The Boys fans worried that his character will be killed off in season 4 of Eric Kripke's superhero show. "That's a wrap for me on this season of The Boys. More fun than a Compound V enema," he captioned a photo of his Vought Studios on-set trailer. "Will miss everyone."
To some fans, the post read like Pegg has just wrapped filming for the season, but not necessarily for the entire series. With the actor playing a minor character, his scenes for The Boys season 4 could just be done, and he won't be around for another year or so, dearly missing his colleagues. Others, however, thought that there was something decidedly final about the way Pegg put it, and Hughie's dad will die in the upcoming season.
Though devastating to many fans, Hugh Campbell Sr.'s death is a definite possibility. The casting for season 4 has revealed that the Campbell men will reunite with Hughie's mother, played by Rosemarie Dewitt, who left the family when her son was just six.
With the way Hughie described his mother's exit, it has long been in a rumor mill that she could be a Supe. In The Boys universe, bringing in the superpowered and admittedly corrupted character does seem to indicate that some serious drama is going to go down. Will it end with Hugh Campbell's death? Some fans think such a development wouldn't be surprising.
"Ah the classic 'long-lost parent comes back so we gotta kill the remaining one'," one of the fans described the possible plot development.
The majority of fans didn't like such an idea, though. Fans really love Simon Pegg's character and his dynamic with Hughie. The show doesn't feature many good dads, and there's no need to take away one of them.
Of course, fans couldn't skip the funny side of Pegg's post.
"All these comments are missing the point. He didn't reveal Hughie's dad was gonna die. He revealed Hughie's dad gets a Compound V enema!" one of the commenters wrote, thus starting a hilarious discussion.
Fans pitched the idea that after a Compound V enema, Hugh Jr. should start dropping lasers that can kill Homelander and be called "Laser Ass" or "Bright Hole."
