When it comes to romances, the Harry Potter fan community turns into an almost literal battlefield. Everyone has their favorite headcanons, and almost no one agrees with what JKR designed…

But have you ever realized that the greatest shipper in the entire franchise is in fact one of the characters?

People are divided on Harry and Ginny's romance just like everyone else's: some say it's the best pairing ever while others claim it makes literally no sense.

But to the bitter disappointment of the latter, one of the greatest matchmakers in Harry Potter really wanted them to be together.

We are, of course, talking about Hermione Granger.

Ginny herself tells Harry that it was Hermione who advised her on how to get his attention, so it's no secret. But apart from that, Hermione's been working on Harry's vision of his future wife since The Order of Phoenix.

She tells Harry that Ginny "gave up on him months ago" and then adds that she still found him attractive regardless.

At that point, Harry's thoughts were consumed by Cho, but he still realized that Ginny did in fact start speaking in front of him and stopped being shy whenever he was about. This is where it all started.

Later, in The Half-Blood Prince, Hermione notices that Harry starts falling in love with Ginny when he starts asking about her relationships, and she both helps and entices him.

Hermione began dropping hints left and right, constantly updating Harry on Ginny's current status — especially when she was about to break up with Dean.

It's safe to assume the great matchmaker also hinted to Ginny about Harry's shift in feelings.

After a few months, it eventually led to the scene in the Gryffindor's common room when Ginny and Harry first kissed in front of the entire House — and there's a subtle line that shows us just how much Hermione was invested in getting them together.

After the kiss, Harry glanced at his friends and saw that: "Hermione was beaming…"

Hermione was the happiest person in the room at that moment — well, apart from Harry and Ginny, that is.

It shows how much she wanted to get them together, and paired with all her hints and support towards Harry, also shows what a great friend she was.

So it's safe to say that the haters of this pairing have a tough competition: they're up against Hermione Granger, and she's a force to be reckoned with.
