The Big Bang Theory’s Penny Looped The Pilot With The Finale
The very first (and the very last) easter egg.
Summary:
- The Big Bang Theory was a sitcom about a group of nerdy male friends who welcome their new neighbor, Penny, into their lives.
- Played by Kaley Cuoco, Penny was often considered the heart of the show.
- In the very last episode of the series, the creators acknowledged Penny's first appearance by having her wear the same shirt she wore in the pilot.
It's never easy to say goodbye, especially when you're leaving behind a story that lasted well over a decade. The story that made you laugh, made you cry, and most importantly, created a perfect escape from your mundane daily worries. The Big Bang Theory was that show for many viewers.
So when it ended, it's not hard to imagine how devastated the die-hard fans were. But no story can last forever, and judging by the general reaction to the show's final episodes, the writers did everything in their power to make the goodbye less painful. Everyone got the happy ending they deserved, and the show ended on a positive note.
They also tried their best to incorporate the feeling of nostalgia for the first seasons of the show as much as possible. And while some references were obvious, others managed to escape the viewers' eyes.
Penny’s Outfit From TBBT Pilot
The very last shot of The Big Bang Theory was designed to be nostalgic. From the entire cast eating takeout together on the same couch that became the subject of many memes, to the instrumental cover of the opening credits song, viewers were meant to feel the weight of the sentimental moment.
However, there was another detail that might have gone unnoticed if you weren't paying close enough attention, or if you didn't put the show on repeat right after the last episode ended. Penny is sitting right in the middle of the couch between Leonard and Sheldon, giggling happily in the exact same pale blue shirt that she wore in the pilot episode of the series.
When first introduced to Leonard and Sheldon, Penny appears to be wearing a combination of a t-shirt and short jean shorts. While the shorts may have been worn out over the course of the show's 12 seasons, or changed just to visually show Penny's growth and maturity, the shirt stayed and ended up looping two episodes together.
If you want to revisit either the very beginning or the very end of the hit that was The Big Bang Theory, you can do so by streaming the show on Max.
