The Big Bang Theory Crossover With Community? It’s a Yes From Fans
The only thing is, it might end in a fight.
Summary:
- The Big Bang Theory was a CBS sitcom about a group of science nerds navigating adulthood.
- Community was another sitcom that incorporated many pop culture references into its humor and actual writing.
- Fans believe that these two shows would make a perfect crossover episode, filled with brilliant easter eggs and puns.
Although The Big Bang Theory ended more than four years ago, the memory of the iconic show is still very fresh in the minds of fans. With many viewers still glued to the show's ongoing prequel, Young Sheldon, it's unlikely that the buzz around the show will die down anytime soon.
With no new content, fans are forced to feed their own imaginations by theorizing about their favorite characters, looking for more clues, and even dreaming up "could have been" scenarios that were never used on the show but sound amazing in theory.
Crossover episodes are definitely one of those. It's not a popular practice among sitcoms, but many fans think the networks should give it a try. Just like procedurals or superhero stories, two sitcoms could easily exist in the same universe and cross paths from time to time.
As it was established by r/thebigbangtheory subreddit, The Big Bang Theory fans believe that one of the best choices to create a crossover with would be Dan Harmon's Community.
Sheldon Cooper vs. Abed Nadir
While it would be fun in general to see four scientists interacting with community college students, the most exciting of all would be the interaction between Sheldon Cooper and Abed Nadir. While there would undoubtedly be a certain amount of resentment on both sides, that is exactly what would make the conversation so entertaining to watch.
Of course, depending on who your favorite character is, you can imagine the dialogue taking different forms, but it would likely be the battle of the wittiest. Sheldon may be academically smarter than Abed, but Abed shouldn't have a hard time impressing Sheldon with his extensive knowledge of pop culture references.
The only real danger would be the mass fight that could break out between the two leads over the smallest detail about some piece of media. On the other hand, the more chaotic it gets for the characters, the more fun it would be to watch.
There's a good chance that something good would come out of it. Penny, for example, would definitely enjoy hanging out with people closer to her usual circle. Who knows, maybe we'll even see Kaley Cuoco guest star in one of the Community episodes, exploring Penny's educational options.
Unfortunately for fans, all of this is out of reach now that both shows have officially ended. The good news is that the Community team is now working on a standalone movie with all the cast members returning to their roles. Keep an eye out for any news or updates on its release!
