The Bear’s Success Formula? Being Just Like Ted Lasso But Darker
The sudden success of season 2 makes so much sense now.
With all the jokes about The Bear 's first season floating around the Internet, not many people expected the show to get so much recognition with its second season.
The show, which was seemingly promoted with just a picture of the leading actor Jeremy Allen White, has suddenly become FX's most-watched Hulu premiere, with season 2's launch being 70% more successful in views than season 1.
While some fans jokingly attribute the success to Allen White's dreamy blue-eyed gaze, others firmly believe that the show has followed in Ted Lasso 's footsteps and cracked the formula for success. Both have their place, of course, but the latter seems much more possible, especially if you're willing to look into the details.
Both shows focus on the male lead who has to change jobs and enter a new environment where he is not so welcome from the beginning. In this regard, Ted Lasso himself and Carmy Berzatto face a similar struggle to find ways to fit into a team and make it stronger.
But that's not the only struggle the two leads face, as there are some very prominent mental health issues that both characters seem to have.
This is where The Bear goes deeper and more intense than Ted Lasso, throwing in some panic attacks and serious anxiety right from the start. Ted Lasso, while dealing with the same issues, built up the intensity more gradually.
What will probably be different is the ending of the two series. Although Ted Lasso's most recent finale seemed uplifting to some, others found it underwhelming and predictable. With the level of suspense that viewers of The Bear are subjected to with each episode, there is no doubt that the ending of the story would not disappoint either.
If you don't mind the constant suspense and being on the edge of your seat for an hour straight, and are interested in joining The Bear's audience, you can stream Season 2 of the series exclusively on Hulu.
