And that’s why we desperately need season 3.

As the second season of The Afterparty hit the screens this July, the viewers were pleasantly surprised to see the quality of the show only rise higher than it was before.

While still delivering the same unique dynamic and keeping the tension of the mystery, season 2 of the show stepped up with more celebrity guests and more twists to enjoy.

One of the things that makes The Afterparty stand out from the most mystery murder stories, is the mix of different genres the show tackles.

The structure of the series with each episode being told from the perspective of one particular character helps showrunners to constantly keep things fresh for the viewers.

The dark humor of it all only adds a cherry on top of The Afterparty’s beautiful madness of a show.

The executive producers and showrunners Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Anthony King sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to speak about The Afterparty’s unique style of storytelling and the future they see for the show.

Turns out, they source inspiration from every single media piece possible, not setting too many boundaries:

“Each episode is totally unique and bespoke, and they are all living together. One person sees himself as a film noir person, and another sees himself living in a Wes Anderson movie.<...> We never like to settle down into one way of telling a story, I guess,” Miller explained.

With the huge reveal in the season 2 finale, it feels like there’s not much more room for the continuation. Now that the viewers know who the killer is, the story feels complete.

Following the steps of Succession, The Afterparty could’ve finished on a high note, but the demand for season 3 is still incredibly high among the fans.

As of today, neither the showrunners nor Apple TV Plus have the answer on whether or not The Afterparty will be continued. And, although Chris Miller bears hope for season 3, all creators agree to be cautious and wait until the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strikes are resolved first.
